Bran Sivas
Born in 1973, Bran Sivas is a contemporary British artist working mainly in oils, focusing on still life, portraiture and the human figure.
Alongside his artistic practice, Bran works as a Children’s Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Balancing these two disciplines has given him a distinctive perspective, where precision and observation inform both crafts.
His work is representational, combining realism with abstract and graphic elements. His approach ranges from alla prima painting to more layered, indirect techniques, often revealing stages of the process within the final piece.
Bran’s paintings have been shown in exhibitions including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition, the New English Art Club Exhibition and the Chelsea Art Society Summer Exhibition. He has also been featured in Tatler magazine, on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year (2024), and in the short film Freedom Unscripted. A painting was recently used in Florian Zeller’s film The Son.
“I am not trying to depict a story or message in my paintings. I get a lot out of the quality of the paint itself, the technical narrative within it. I want people to connect with that technical narrative, but also with the emotion. You can get emotion even from still life objects.”
